Safe do it yourself aquarium decorations?
I am thinking of putting some new decorations into my 10 gallon tank, but I want to make them myself. I'm guessing that seashells are not okay, or are they? And rocks, how can I tell if they are safe for my fish? I have a bag of that concrete mix stuff, could I use that to make some caves and stuff? Thanks in advance

Slimy aquarium decorations?
I am new to keeping fish so I need to learn a thing or two or 200. I placed one of those rubbery tank decorations in the aquarium and within a few days it became super slimy to the touch. It had no visible growth of any kind, it just became very lubricated as if I had stuck it in a tub of KY Jelly. So did the rubber suction cups from the heater. Is the slimy stuff good bacteria growing on the surface or is it something less salutary?
How can i start modeling my own aquarium decorations?
I have no idea what i can use that will be easy to model and then safe for aquariums. it would like it to be like play dough, but i want it to harden and be able to hold a bit of weight.I have a 29 gallon, and i need plants near the top of the water, and a lot of caves, and i just think if i can sculpt it myself, that would be perfect, but i don't want to chisel it out of rock or wood or anything like that but if there was a way i can make something then put it in a huge oven or something, then that would be perfect has anyone ever done something like this?Yeah, i just saw something like that on a forum somewhere, i think i will do that. thanks
Does anyone have any suggestions for alternative aquarium decorations that provide hiding places for the fish?
I have a tank and am anxious to fill it with fish so im in the process of preparing the tank, but im just really not attracted to the common typical plants and caves and " castles" or landscape background posters there are available. I want a more custom look. I want to improvise and design my own " landscape" . Are there things objects materials that i absolutely should not use? I want the tank to reflect my own personal style but of course the most important thing is the health and comfort of the fish PLEASE HELP Can i use a solid black or other solid color background poster?

Bioshock, aquarium decorations?? Where can I get them?
I had a great idea recently to theme my aquarium around " rapture" inspired by the amazing game, bioshock. One problem, I don't find any sort of resin decorations that are underwater safe You would think that with a popular game based on a city underwater that there'd be some Big daddy statues for a aquarium but I haven't found anything. So, does anyone know where I can find them or at least get it custom made? I'd like a 6 inch big daddy statue. That'd be so awesome.
Disinfecting Aquarium Decorations?
I just got a bunch of used aquarium decorations some of which were also used for reptiles . I want to know the best way to disinfect these. They aren't visibly dirty, but I would not think that rinsing these decorations would be enough to get rid of old bacteria on them from other tanks and reptiles. I also know not to use soap. What should I do?
Old Aquarium Decorations Question.?
I have some old fish cave house decorations for aquariums, in which I haven't used in years.I went to get one today to put in my aquarium for my betta, and so I went to rinse if off very good and I even let it set in some simmering water I boiled on the stove to sanitize it a little.Anyways there's a smell coming off of it, like a chemical or maybe the paint smell.I'm a little worried to put it in the aquarium due to the smell, I'm afraid it might harmmy betta, so what do you think?
